Our commitment to your privacy

Cobalt Private Wealth is a registered investment adviser. The people who work with us share details about their income, their savings, their families and their plans, and protecting that information is part of the job rather than an afterthought. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and who sees it.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us and information created in the course of serving you. That includes:

  • Information from applications, account forms and our conversations, such as your name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, employment, income, assets, liabilities and your goals for the money
  • Information about the accounts we manage for you, including balances, holdings and transaction history, which reaches us through the custodian that holds those accounts
  • Information from professionals you have asked us to work with, such as your accountant or your attorney

How we use your information

We use it to give you advice, to build and maintain your plan, to manage the accounts you have asked us to manage, to meet our obligations as a registered investment adviser, and to stay in touch with you. We do not use it for anything else.

Information we share

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone so that they can market to you. We share only what is necessary, and only with:

  • The qualified custodian that holds your accounts, so that trades, transfers and reporting work
  • Service providers that help us run the firm, such as our portfolio management and financial planning software, each of which is under an agreement requiring confidentiality
  • Professionals you have asked us to coordinate with, such as your accountant, attorney or insurance agent
  • Regulators, auditors and others when the law requires it

If you stop being a client, we continue to handle whatever information we still hold in the way this policy describes.

How we protect your information

Access is limited to the people who need it to do their work. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards designed to meet the standards that apply to registered investment advisers, including secure storage, access controls and encryption where appropriate. The service providers we use are held to confidentiality obligations in writing.

Information this website collects

This section covers the website specifically. It is separate from the firm’s handling of client financial information described above.

Information you give us

When you fill in a form on this site, we receive what you type into it, which may include your name, email address, phone number and any message you write. We use that information to respond to you. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone outside the firm and the service providers that help us operate this website.

Scheduling

Our scheduling page uses Calendly to let you book a meeting without leaving the site. Information you enter there is handled under Calendly’s own privacy policy.

Risk questionnaire

Our risk analysis page uses a questionnaire provided by Nitrogen, formerly known as Riskalyze. Responses you submit go to Nitrogen and are handled under its privacy policy.

Analytics and site data

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and move through this site. It records which pages you visit, roughly how long you stay, the type of device and browser you are using, the general area you are in based on your internet connection, and which search or website you arrived from. It does not receive your name, email address or phone number unless you type those into a form yourself.

Google Analytics sets cookies, which are small files your browser stores, so that a return visit is not counted as a new one. We also use Google Search Console, which reports the search terms that bring people here. Search Console reports in totals rather than by person, and it sets no cookies.

Our security software records the internet addresses of visitors so that it can detect and block attacks on the site. Those records are kept only as long as they are useful for that purpose.

What you type into a contact form is emailed to us. It is not stored in the website itself.

This site carries no advertising trackers and no social media pixels. We do not sell or rent anything collected here.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and blocking them will not stop you from using this site. Google also offers a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting anything at all.

Your choices

Because we do not share your information so that others can market to you, no opt-out is needed. You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct something that is wrong, or ask for another copy of this notice. Call us or use the contact details below and we will take care of it.

We give you this notice when you become a client, and again whenever it changes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how client information is handled will be communicated as required.
